Redesigning Deakin in China to drive engagement with Chinese students

Deakin University, a renowned Australian institution, sought to strengthen its presence and attract more Chinese students, given the growing interest in international education. Their existing Chinese website, while informative, faced challenges related to outdated design, performance, and content management. The objective was clear: create an engaging, high-performing, and user-friendly website tailored specifically for the Chinese audience.

To address Deakin University’s goals, a customized WordPress website was developed, offering a versatile and user-friendly content management system that enabled easy content updates and maintenance. The entire website was transformed into Chinese to cater to the target audience, ensuring accessibility and appeal to Chinese students and their families.

Furthermore, hosting the website within China significantly improved loading speed and ensured regulatory compliance, thereby enhancing user experience and search engine visibility. The information architecture was streamlined for intuitive navigation, making it easy for prospective students to find course details, admissions information, scholarships, and support services.

The design was fully responsive to accommodate users on various devices, including mobile phones and tablets, as mobile access is prevalent in China. Advanced performance optimization techniques were employed to ensure swift loading, and integration with popular Chinese social media platforms facilitated engagement and sharing

The redesigned Deakin University Chinese website not only achieved its primary goal of attracting more Chinese students but also became a valuable resource for individuals seeking information about the university’s programs and services. Its performance, accessibility, and cultural relevance have positioned it as a model for international education institutions targeting the Chinese market.
